WCOH Rules

“WORLD CUP OF HOCKEY”

The GOYA World Cup of Hockey is comprised of 6 teams divided into 2 divisions:  North America is made up of Canada, United States and Mexico.  Europe is made up of Sweden, Finland and Germany.  Each team will play 8 regular season games, 4 against their division opponents and 4 against the other division.  At the end of the regular season the 1st place team in each division will receive a bye directly into the World Cup semi-finals.  The 2nd place team in each division will cross over and play the 3rd place team in the other division in the World Cup Quarter Finals, the winners will move onto the Semi-finals.

Game Information:

3 10-Minute stop time periods

8 goal running time any time during the game (no mercy)

If tied at the end of regulation, each team will switch ends and play a 5-minute running time 3 on 3 sudden death OT (During playoffs OT will be stop time)

If tied at the end of OT, the teams will move directly to a 3-player shootout (home team will shoot first)

Penalties are 1:30, Coincidental Penalties will go down to 3 on 3 and 2 on 2

Game Rules:

No Offsides, No Icing, No Checking and Absolutely no Fighting!

Point System:

Win in Regulation = 5 Pts, Win in OT = 4 Pts, Win in Shoot-out = 3 Pts, Loss in OT = 2 Pts, Loss in Shoot-out = 1 Pt & Loss in Regulation = 0 Pts
